Travel Information

By train

Bonn Central Station (Bonn Hbf) has limited direct trains from other large European cities. However, Cologne’s central station, a quick 30 minute train ride from Bonn, has several international connections. The Thalys train runs every 2 hours and takes you from Brussels to Cologne in under 2 hours, and from Paris to Cologne in a little over 3 hours. The ICE trains connect to many other cities, such as Amsterdam and Berlin. Regional trains typically run every hour and connect most cities and towns of Germany.

By plane

Bonn is also easily reached by air. Three large airports are located in the vicinity of Bonn. The Cologne/Bonn airport (airport code: CGN) is only 30 minutes from the city center via the Airport Express Bus (SB60), which takes you directly to Bonn Hbf. Direct flights are available from several European cities. The larger Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) is only an hour from Bonn by direct train and well-connected both within Europe and intercontinentally. The airport at Frankfurt am Main (FRA) is Germany’s largest airport and major European hub. Frankfurt airport is home to Lufthansa and Condor and offers direct flights to almost all large airports around the world. It takes approximately 1.5 hours, including a transfer, to travel from Frankfurt to Bonn by train.
